WARMA Winter Tournament Report

The embers are still smoldering but the event is long over, WARMA's first ever seasonal tournament has come to a close.

16 players braved the cold to face each other down from across the green mat. The event consisted of a 5 hanchan preliminary phase to earn their place in the finals where they fight over another 2 hanchan before finally being crowned the winter champion.

After 5 hanchan the top 4 emerged from the fires of battle. Pictured below from the left; Jaxon Dunning (3rd 96.7), Byron Li (2nd 102.3), Shikin Sasaki (1st 137.8), Murray Wachtel (4th 80.2).

Finals Hanchans

After a nail biting hanchan, Byron soars off to a solid lead of 61.8 points whilst Jaxon and Shikin fought over 2nd and 3rd place and Murray taking a bit -45 point fourth .

Miracles do however happen! We saw not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 5 repeats as Murray clawed back from the brink fighting for every single possible point, chasing down Byron and reversing the tables taking a massive 71.7 point first place finish and also forcing Byron to take a -71 point fourth place.

And with that, the WARMA Winter Tournament came to an end. The final results were;

Jaxon Dunning 4th place (-20.2)

Byron Li 3rd place (-9.2)

Shikin Sasaki 2nd place (2.7)

Murray Wachtel Champion 26.7
